UN
The Comboni Missionaries have been involved at the United Nations since the mid-1990’s when we were elected to not only serve on the Washington DC-based African Peace and Justice Network’s board but also as this NGO’s representative to the UN as part of the United Nations Department of Public Information.
The MCCJ was also granted special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC). The various commissions of ECOSOC follow an annual agenda that includes consideration of international issues on ecomony, society, culture, health, sustainable development and human rights.
The MCCJ work to bring the urgent needs of the global society to the attention of the UN, and to share information, analysis and expertise with members, colleagues and friends. Our internationality offers a unique perspective to these concerns in our world and we actively participate in the work of the UN by presenting written and oral testimony through ECOSOC.
