Las Posadas

Christmas in Mexico is a religious holiday, honoring the ‘nativity’ or birth of the savior. As part of the Christmas celebration, traditional fiestas called Mexican posadas (inns) are held for family, friends, and neighbors. A posada is the reenactment of the Census pilgrimage to Bethlehem by Mary and Joseph in search of a room.

Nativity Experience – 71st Annual

The Comboni Missionaries Nativity Experience opens for it’s 71st year! Watch the animated Nativity, do some Christmas shopping in the Mission Market and Christmas Boutique, tour the Mission Museum, and view Nativity Displays from around the world. Admission is free all season long! Donations for area food banks gratefully accepted.

Giving the gift of water

For more than a year now you have helped us share the gift of safe, clean water with refugees living in Uganda. Over the summer we had the privilege of extending that gift to our missionaries living in difficult situations in South Sudan. Fr. Gregor Schmidt spent the summer with us in

Pala Memorial Mass

In commemoration of All Souls Day and in remembrance of the Comboni priests buried in the Pala cemetery we celebrate Mass every November at the Pala Chapel. The mission was founded in 1816, the mission was fully restored by the Comboni Missionaries in 1948 and cared for by them until 1991 when it was turned back to the Diocese of San Diego.

Mission Dinner and Raffle

he Annual Dinner and Raffle will be held Saturday night, October 6 at Sacred Heart Church (Covina) inside Cavanagh Hall. Tickets are now on sale for $50.00/ each and include a full dinner (buffet style), dessert, coffee and live entertainment. A number of specialty silent auction baskets will be on display to tempt you and to help bring donations for the mission project. Doors will open at 6:30 pm, dinner will be served by 7:00 pm, followed by music and dancing. Wine, margaritas and beer sold separately.
